UCLA Campus Walk

This walk takes you through the core of the University of California, Los Angeles, the campus that opened on these Westwood hills in 1929. You'll start among the Romanesque brick buildings of Royce Quad, wander down to the Inverted Fountain and the student unions on Bruin Walk, meet the bronze Bruin Bear, visit Pauley Pavilion, home of John Wooden's championship teams, and then climb the famous Janss Steps back up to the Fowler Museum and the Murphy Sculpture Garden.

The loop has 11 stops and takes about 100 minutes at an easy pace, including time to look around. It's all on foot, with some slopes and an 87-step staircase, so wear comfortable shoes. Everything on the route is outdoors and open to the public; building interiors keep their own hours.

Start on the lawn of Royce Quad, between Royce Hall and Powell Library. If you drive, campus parking structures are paid, so plan to buy parking at a pay station or kiosk, then walk to the quad.
