Las Vegas Strip Walk

This walk runs the length of the Las Vegas story, from the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign at the south end of the Strip to the Fremont Street Experience downtown, where the city began. Along the way you'll see free sights - fountains, gardens, gondolas, flamingos and a glowing ball the size of an arena - and how Las Vegas keeps reinventing itself, from mob-run casinos to megaresorts to the Sphere.

Plan on about three hours. Most legs are short walks between neighboring resorts, but the trips from the sign to Bellagio and from the Strip to downtown are too long to walk: ride the Deuce, the double-decker bus that runs along the Strip around the clock, or take a rideshare. Use the pedestrian bridges to cross Las Vegas Boulevard.

Take the desert heat seriously. From late spring to early fall, carry water, wear a hat and sunscreen, duck into the air-conditioned resorts, and save the outdoor stretches for morning or evening. Start at the sign, ideally early.
