Wunderlich Field - Soccer and Softball

A stop on Menlo College Campus Walk, a free self-guided tour.

The green expanse ahead of you is Wunderlich Field, on the western side of campus. It is the main game and practice field for Menlo's men's and women's soccer teams, and Menlo softball plays here too. The playing surface is artificial turf, which was replaced in 2015, so the field stays usable through the rainy months of a Bay Area winter.

Menlo's athletic space reaches beyond this field. In 1953 the institution bought land across Alejandra Avenue for a track and athletic fields, and today Menlo baseball plays there at Cartan Field. With about half of the students competing on varsity teams, the fields are busy most afternoons with practices and games.

If you are thinking about playing for Menlo, the athletics website lists each team's schedule and coaches. Watching a home game is a good way to feel the campus spirit, so check the schedule before you visit.

Look along the edge of the field for the team benches and the line of trees that screens campus from the neighborhood.

Getting here: From the Dining Hall, walk west past the parking area to the edge of the field.

Did you know?: Menlo baseball does not play on this side of the road: its home, Cartan Field, is across Alejandra Avenue on land the institution bought in 1953.
