Building 1 - Kinesiology and Wellness

A stop on Canada College Campus Walk, a free self-guided tour.

Across the road stands Building 1, the Kinesiology and Wellness Building. It replaced the original 1968 gym, and students moved in around spring 2021. Inside are a gym for basketball and volleyball, a large fitness center, exercise rooms, classrooms and locker rooms. Outside, on the east side, are two swimming pools used for classes and competition, and the rooftop has an open-air running track.

The building is home to the Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance Division and to the Canada Colts, the college's sports teams. Its Athletic Center also sells community fitness memberships, so neighbors work out alongside students. The Colts Cafe is in this building too.

If you are a student-athlete, ask about COLTS, short for Community of Learning Through Sports, which supports athletes in the classroom.

From here, look at the pools through the fence and notice how the building sits low against the hillside.

Getting here: From Building 3, walk south toward Lot 4 and look across the road at the large building with the pools beside it.

Did you know?: Building 1 has a running track on its roof.
