Building 3 - The Main Theatre

A stop on Canada College Campus Walk, a free self-guided tour.

The large building in front of you is Building 3, one of the original 1968 buildings and the home of the performing arts at Canada. Inside is the Main Theatre, a 516-seat proscenium stage, along with a smaller flexible theater and a scene shop.

Theatre Arts students do more than act here. They direct, design, build sets, crew shows and manage productions, and they have even produced radio plays. The Main Theatre is also rented out to community groups for concerts, dance, lectures and plays, so a visit in the evening may turn up a show from a local company.

Building 3 is also home to the Humanities and Social Sciences Division and the English as a Second Language office, so many students take classes here even if they never set foot on stage.

Check the college's theatre arts and events pages for upcoming performances. Seeing a show is one of the best ways to get to know a campus.

Getting here: From The Grove, walk east past Building 2 to the big building at the front of campus.

Did you know?: The Main Theatre seats 516 people, which makes it one of the largest gathering spaces on campus.
