A stop on Skyline College Campus Walk, a free self-guided tour.
Building 5 is where students come to study. It houses the Learning Commons, which brings the Library and the Learning Center together in one space for academic support.
The Learning Center, on the first floor, offers free tutoring in many subjects, with online tutoring available outside regular hours. The Library has books, journals and online databases, plus workshops on research skills and a drop-in computer lab. TRiO Student Support Services, a program for first-generation and other students headed for a degree or transfer, is based here, along with the Honors Transfer Program and the Educational Access Center, which supports students with disabilities.
The building is also home to the Academic Support and Learning Technologies Division and the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning, where faculty work on teaching methods. If you're picturing where you'd actually spend time between classes, this building is a strong candidate. Check the website for current hours.
Getting here: From the Quad, walk past the east end of Building 6. Building 5 is the next building to the northeast.
Did you know?: Tutoring at the Learning Center is free; students sign up for it by enrolling in a zero-unit learning skills course.
Photo op: Frame the entrance of Building 5 with Building 6 at the edge of the shot to show how close the two are.
