Florence Moore Hall - Science and New Ideas

A stop on Menlo College Campus Walk, a free self-guided tour.
The large building in front of you, wrapped around a courtyard, is Florence Moore Hall. Students call it FloMo. It was built with a 1956 gift from Florence Moore as the Florence Moore Science and Engineering Building, with math and science facilities and an auditorium, and it remains one of the main classroom buildings on campus.
Upstairs is the Menlo College Innovation Center, which opened in October 2017. It was created by Menlo students in the University Innovation Fellows program, with a gift from an alumni supporter, and is open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni as a place to build projects and test ideas. The building is also home to the college's Institute of AI and Sustainability.
For a prospective student, this is a good place to picture daily life: classes in the morning, a group project in the Innovation Center in the afternoon, and the library just across the lawn.
Notice the courtyard design, which gives the classrooms light and air on a mild Peninsula day.
Getting here: From the middle of the Quad, walk south across the lawn to the large building with the courtyard.
Did you know?: When this hall opened in 1956, Menlo was still an all-male college, and it shared its grounds with Menlo School.
Photo op: From the edge of the Quad, frame the long front of Florence Moore Hall with the lawn in the foreground.
