Haynes-Prim Pavilion - Home of the Oaks

A stop on Menlo College Campus Walk, a free self-guided tour.
The big building with the broad pitched roof in front of you is Haynes-Prim Pavilion, Menlo's gym and the home court of the Menlo Oaks. Basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams play here, and the building also holds locker rooms and a weight room used by student-athletes.
The pavilion went up in the 1970s and is named for the three donors who paid for it: Ester R. Haynes and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne L. Prim. Inside, the playing floor sits below ground level, and spectators look down on the court from above.
Sports have been part of Menlo since 1928, the college's first season of competition. Today about half of Menlo's students play on one of its 15 varsity teams. The Oaks have spent the last few years moving into NCAA Division II and join the California Collegiate Athletic Association beginning with the 2026-27 season.
If you are here on a game day, check the athletics website for the schedule - home games are a lively way to see campus.
Getting here: From the Admissions Building, walk a few steps south past the pool to the long side of the gym.
Did you know?: Menlo's women's wrestling team won the college's first national championships in 2019.
Photo op: Step back across the walkway so the whole pitched roof of the pavilion fits in your frame, with the pool fence at one side.
