Washington DC National Mall Walking TourWelcome to the National Mall, the two-mile stretch of lawn between the U.S. Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. This free tour has 21 stops: the Smithsonian museums along the Mall, the war and presidential memorials to the west, and the White House to the north.Walking the full route and pausing only for photos covers about 8.3 miles and takes around three hours. Every museum and memorial on the route is free, so plan on a full day if you want to go inside. A few museums, such as the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Air and Space Museum, can require free timed-entry passes, so check their websites before you go.To move through the tour, tap the upper right button for the next stop. Where a stop has extra pages, such as the highlights inside a museum, the lower right button opens them, and the upper right button skips ahead. The map card on each page gives walking directions, and if you turn on GPS in the app settings, the tour opens the right page as you reach each stop.Start at the Washington Monument, near 15th Street and Constitution Avenue.Stops on this tourWashington MonumentNational Museum of African American History and CuNational Museum of American HistorySmithsonian National Museum of Natural HistoryNational Gallery of ArtUnited States CapitolUnited States Botanic GardenNational Museum of the American IndianNational Air and Space MuseumHirshhorn Museum and Sculpture GardenThe Smithsonian Institution Building - The CastleFreer Gallery of ArtJefferson MemorialWorld War II MemorialMartin Luther King Jr. MemorialKorean War MemorialLincoln MemorialVietnam Veterans MemorialWhite House EllipseWhite HouseLafayette Square
