Todos Santos: Pueblo Magico Walk
Todos Santos began as a Jesuit mission in the 1700s, grew into the sugar-cane capital of southern Baja in the 1800s, and nearly emptied out when its spring dried up in 1950. Artists and new arrivals helped bring it back, and Mexico named it a Pueblo Magico in 2006.
This tour has eight stops and takes about two and a half hours. The first seven are a short, easy walk around the historic center, all within a few blocks of the plaza. The last stop, the fishing beach at Punta Lobos, is a few kilometers south of town on a partly unpaved road: drive, take a taxi, or walk it in the cool of the morning with plenty of water.
Start on the main plaza, with the mission church on its south side and the theater on its west. Wear a hat and sunscreen, since the sun is strong even in winter. Shops and galleries change often, so check current hours as you go.
