Grand Case - The Gourmet Capital

Stop on St Maarten Island Paradise Tour, a free self-guided tour.

Travel north along the coast to Grand Case, a small village with a big reputation as the culinary capital of the Caribbean. This charming beachfront community is lined with over 30 restaurants packed into just a few blocks, earning it the nickname 'Restaurant Row.' Here you'll find everything from casual beachside lolos (small, family-run BBQ shacks serving local Creole specialties) to upscale French bistros where Michelin-trained chefs create masterpieces. The lolos are a must-try experience these colorful wooden shacks serve authentic island cuisine like ribs, chicken, fresh fish, and local sides at incredibly reasonable prices. For a more refined experience, reserve a table at one of the French restaurants where you can enjoy foie gras, escargot, and fresh seafood prepared with French techniques and Caribbean ingredients. The beach at Grand Case is beautiful and often overlooked by visitors focused on the food scene. The calm, clear water is perfect for swimming and snorkeling, especially around the rocky areas at both ends. Tuesday nights are particularly special with the weekly Jump Up street party, where the road closes and locals and visitors dance to live music while sampling food from various vendors. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, embodying the true spirit of the Caribbean. Grand Case offers the perfect combination of world-class dining and laid-back beach culture, making it a highlight of any St Maarten visit.
