Margaret Morrison Carnegie HallStop on Carnegie Mellon University, a free self-guided tour. One of CMU's most historically significant buildings, Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall was the original home of the Margaret Morrison Carnegie College - CMU's pioneering college for women, founded in 1903. Named for Andrew Carnegie's mother, the college was among the first technical institutions in the country to offer women a rigorous education in science, technology, and applied arts. Another Henry Hornbostel design, the building features the same warm brick and elegant detailing found across CMU's historic core. Today it houses the Department of Social and Decision Sciences and other programs in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The building stands as a reminder that CMU's commitment to inclusion and practical education stretches back to the university's very earliest years.Stops on this tourThe Cut - Heart of CMU CampusHammerschlag Hall - Original Carnegie TechMargaret Morrison Carnegie HallCollege of Fine Arts BuildingBaker Hall - Humanities and Social SciencesGates-Hillman Center - School of Computer ScienceNewell-Simon Hall - Robotics InstituteRandy Pausch Memorial FootbridgePurnell Center for the ArtsCohon University CenterThe CMU FenceHunt LibraryWean Hall - Mathematics and ComputingTepper School of BusinessWarner Hall - University AdministrationSoftware Engineering InstituteGesling Stadium and Campus Athletics
