Pinel Island - Secluded Island Paradise

Stop on St Maarten Island Paradise Tour, a free self-guided tour.

Take a short ferry ride from French Cul de Sac to reach Pinel Island, a tiny offshore gem that feels worlds away from the bustle of the main island. The ferry costs around $12 round trip and departs every 30 minutes, making this an easy and worthwhile excursion. Upon arrival, you're greeted by two stunning beaches Yellow Beach and Karibuni Beach both offering powder-soft white sand and impossibly clear turquoise water. The island is car-free and development is limited to just two laid-back beach restaurants, preserving its natural beauty. The shallow, calm waters are perfect for families with young children, and the snorkeling is excellent along the rocky areas and around the island's perimeter. You might spot sea turtles, stingrays, and hundreds of tropical fish. The island is small enough to walk around in about 20 minutes, with trails leading through low vegetation to rocky viewpoints. Most visitors spend their time relaxing on the beach, swimming, snorkeling, and enjoying fresh seafood and cold drinks at one of the restaurants. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available to rent, but bringing your own snorkel gear is recommended. The island attracts fewer tourists than the main beaches, so even on busy days, it maintains a peaceful, unspoiled atmosphere. Pinel Island is what people picture when they dream of a perfect Caribbean island uncrowded, pristine, and surrounded by water so clear and blue it almost doesn't look real.
